Story
Hello there!!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my just giving page!!
I have decided now that I’m approaching the ¼ of a century milestone I needed to take on a serious challenge soooo the LONDON MARATHON 2015 it is!!
It’s not just about my personal challenge… more importantly I’m trying to raise as much money as I possibly can for a brilliant charity…THE DONKEY SANCTUARY!! The Donkey Sanctuary’s aim is to transform the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships. During the last 45 years, The Donkey Sanctuary has made a profound difference to the lives of many thousands of donkeys and people all over the world.
Under The Donkey Sanctuary umbrella sits the Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre in Leeds. A fantastic centre that provides donkey assisted riding therapy to children with additional needs and disabilities. Both staff and donkeys do amazing work having over 190 children to ride per week AND somehow manage to fit in outreach visits, taking donkeys to residential homes, hospices and schools. I have seen firsthand the enjoyment and pleasure that the donkeys bring into people’s lives, it really is heartwarming!
The Leeds Centre costs somewhere in the region of £350,000 each year to keep going!! They don't receive any government funding or external grants whatsoever and rely entirely on donations and fundraising in order to continue their life-enhancing work. I’m hoping that my little (HUGE) run can raise as much money as possible to help!!
I promise to keep you all updated and entertained with the epic training schedule I’m about to embark on. I would really really appreciate it if you would be able to help me towards my fundraising total for this fantastic charity by sponsoring me to run 26.2 MILES next April!! Whaaaaa!!
However big or small all donations will go to this very worthwhile cause and encourage me to run faster when the time comes!! Eeek!!

P.S. If you would like to visit The Donkey Sanctuary at Leeds you would be very welcome to go and see all the brilliant work that they do, anytime between 10am and 3pm, every day and have a snuggle with one of their 20 very very cute rescue donkeys!!
