30 years ago Dave Currey, Allan Thornton and I founded the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA). Way beyond our wildest dreams (and we have had some pretty wild dreams of what we wanted to do), EIA  has achieved enormous success in fighting environmental crime and protecting threatened species and habitats. Its been 3 decades of uphill challenge and I am enormously proud of the difference EIA continues to make for future generations.

Without EIA, elephants and rhinos may have been on the very verge of extinction by now and commercial whaling would likely have resumed. Forest destruction would be far greater than it is today and billions more tons of climate changing gases would have escaped into the atmosphere, harming our planet.

EIA being the official charity of the Fakenham 50, set me the challenge to participate in the ride. I thought I too needed a challenge. At the beginning of this year I had never ridden further than 5 miles. The15 mile circuit seemed a scary proposition but I was up for it. Cycling through the glorious Norfolk countryside week after week means15 miles is now easy. So I committed to the 37 mile circuit and it did it! Took 4.5 hours and was a bit long but I loved it.

All the training means I am not stiff or sore today. Your support makes those months of cycle training well worth it. Thank you so, so much.
