Story
I'm taking part in Middle East Media's Move for Change Challenge once again this year to raise money to create 26 more episodes of their Life in the Desert animation series.
Last year I cycled for 113 minutes, and this year I wanted to do something different to highlight how conflict trauma can affect children in the Middle East and North Africa. I am going to spend 26 hours in complete silence (no words, verbal sounds or even hmms to myself!!) from 5.30am on 14th June to 7.30am on the 15th June, breaking my silence for MEM's day of prayer.
For many children that are forced to leave their homes and move to camps, they have, in one form or another, experienced trauma. Often they are unable to speak out about their emotions and feelings, so I am going to put myself in their shoes for one day. I would love for you to stand with me by supporting MEM to help make a difference to the lives of these children.

MEM's Life in the Desert programme is an animation series combined with interactive workshops that have been developed in partnership with a child psychologist. The programme is aimed at children aged 5-9 who have experienced the trauma of conflict, displacement, instability and poverty, helping them to explore their emotions and begin the healing process.
Last year you helped us (MEM) raise just over £5,500 for Life in the Desert, which enabling us to train even more teachers in how to use our trauma material alongside the animation. In total, nearly 2,000 children were supported through this project in 2020 including children and families in Beirut directly after the deadly Port blast which rocked the city. This year, we are championing this project once again, and need your support to create 26 more episodes of our Life in the Desert project to take into refugee camps and vulnerable communities across the Middle East and North Africa.
