Story
Following the success of the London to Paris charity cycle ride that took place last year, we are now planning a second challenge that will take place in June this year. The ride will be a trip down memory lane, starting in London and taking us back to our roots in the town of Tullow before finishing in Dublin.
The ride
In true reflection of Tullow’s entrepreneurial spirit, the 400km route from London to Dublin can only be described as ‘unique’. In short, the route is from London to Dublin…. via France! Here is the planned itinerary:
Thursday 16/06/11
Meet in Chiswick Thursday morning and make our way to Portsmouth. (75 miles)
Take the overnight ferry across to Caen (France)
Friday 17/06/11
Make our way west to Cherbourg (85 miles)
Take the overnight ferry across to Rosslare (Ireland)
Saturday 18/06/11
Rosslare to New Bridge. Through the Tullow town (76 miles)
Spend the night around New Bridge (Ireland)
Sunday 19/06/11
Cycle from New Bridge to Dublin. (30 miles).
Fly back on Sunday evening back to London.
We hope to raise at least £25,000 that will be donated to three charities.
Like last year, one of these charities will be Spear, a local organisation that works with young people in the Hammersmith, Chiswick, Shepherds Bush and Hounslow areas, providing training to help them find employment.
The second charity is Care International s one of the world’s three biggest aid agencies.
And lastly Sparks, whose vision is a world where all babies are given the best possible start in life and where a medical condition or disability at birth is not a barrier to opportunity and fulfilment.
