Story
Luke, Sophie, Siobhan and Jay have decided to team up to raise money for this very special animal charity, Stray2me. We have decided to take on 200 miles each, totaling 800 miles! The target of £800 equals £1 per mile so we are hoping to find 800 people to donate £1, we are utterly grateful for any donations given.
Samosa was found abandoned as a kitten and was adopted at 1.5 years old by myself (Jay). She is the most loving cat you will ever meet! I now volunteer for this wonderful charity. Siobhan, my partner has been a part of my family for many years and is joining in as she knows the marvellous work of Stray2me.
Hope (dog) was found at the age of approx. 14 with fractures and in a sorry state. After several homes in the UK Sophie decided to foster the beautiful Hope. Due to her being such an amazing girl, she has now been made a permeant family member, along with Luke.
Welfare record for domestic animals in Romania is appalling. Dogs in particular, but also cats are deliberately ignored, poisoned, run over, kicked, beaten, starved and dumped in the countryside miles from nowhere. A good proportion of the strays that do become pets are kept in a yard (either roaming free or tied to a chain) or in flats, and are not given proper exercise or socialisation. Very few are neutered - so it will probably come as no surprise that the resources needed to rescue and manage the stray population vastly outnumber the resources available to volunteers like us who want to make a difference. We are taking part in this challenge to raise both funds and awareness - can you help me make a difference where it matters?
Stray2Me is a small UK registered charity comprised of a team of animal lovers, all of whom have adopted or fostered rescue animals. Over the past few years, we became more and more accustomed to the hardships Romanian rescues face throughout their lives. Romania has a huge stray animal population, brought about by poor animal welfare laws, ignorance and corrupt practice.
We'd like to try and make a difference by raising £2000 which will go towards a spay campaign and emergency veterinary treatment - but we can't do this without you!
