Story
I was diagnosed with IPF at 34 that resulted in receiving a lung transplant at the age of 39. I've always been a "glass is half full" type of person. Since my illness and receiving the gift of life, I've vowed to make the most of each day I've been blessed with! Sun rises are more spectacular and sunsets are that much sweeter. I find myself appreciating every aspect of life with much more passion and awe.
I have had the privilege of watching my children grow into amazing adults and make beautiful memories with each of my family and friends. I've even experienced the heartbreak of losing my parents and holding my mothers hand as she passed. These things might be considered common occurrences in everyday life for most, but when you wondered if you'd ever see your children all grown up, these moments are sweeter...Much. Sweeter.
I've made a promise to myself and my donor to make a difference with the gift of time I've been given. I have found my place to make a difference with The Lung Transplant Foundation Mentorship Program. This year, for my 8th Lungaversary I'd like to ask you to consider making a donation to The Lung Transplant Foundation. While I am blessed to celebrate 8 years post transplant, many are not as fortunate. My friend in the picture above was not so lucky. She lost her battle shortly after she was transplanted. I want everyone to have a chance after lung transplant! The Lung Transplant Foundation works diligently to end BOS or chronic rejection in lung transplant recipients. Please help me to reach my goal and make a difference on my Lungaversary!!
