Story
Megan was known – and loved – for her big personality and steely determination. Megan died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Cheltenham. She was 24.
The saying, ‘though she is little, she is fierce’ has never been truer. In 2015, during her time at National Star, Megan grappled with a thief who snatched money she had withdrawn from a cash machine in Cheltenham High Street. Not only did she fight him off, but also managed to grab back half the money before two members of the public stepped in.
At the time of the incident, she had been shopping for shoes and handbags, as clothes and fashion were Megan’s passion. She had her own classic style and everything had to be just right, from hair bobbles to shoes. Fondly, referred to as ‘Princess Meg’ by those who worked with her, she had a smile that could persuade anyone to do what she’d asked and a laugh which was truly infectious.
Born in Kingswood and brought up in in Downend, Bristol, Megan followed in her sister Abigail’s footsteps and started at National Star in 2013. She spent four years at the college achieving her Entry 3 Award in Employability Skills.
During National Star’s 50th anniversary celebrations, Megan met the Countess of Wessex. She was part of the BBC3 TV documentary The Unbreakables, which followed a group of National Star students and formed many friendships during her time at college.
When she left National Star in 2017, Megan decided to stay in Cheltenham. She initially lived with some of her friends she had made at college before moving into her own bungalow where she was able to direct her own care.
The family is raising money for National Star as a way to celebrate Megan's life.
She leaves two sisters, Becky and Abigail, and parents Janet and Sean.
