Story
Call it a mid-life crisis, or just plain insane, but I've decided to set myself a personal challenge of cycling 1000 miles over 2 weeks in May, from Land's End to John O'Groats! That's around 75 miles a day! You can follow my training and progress at www.janesbigtrip.blogspot.co.uk
I'll be raising money for the Watchtree Wheelers, a local charity who specialise in riding for the disabled and disadvantaged. Top of their wishlist is a 'Cheetah' - a recumbent side-by-side tandem which allows disabled folk to ride alongside able cyclists, and to ride further and for longer.
This bike costs £5000, so my donation will hopefully give them a massive head start. I'm aiming to raise £2000 - that's 200 people donating 1p per mile (£10). But if I can get them even closer to their total, my ride will be all the more worthwhile - please give generously!
The Watchtree Wheelers say this about themselves:
"The simple pleasure of riding a bike is often taken for granted. We aim to make it possible for all people to ride - no matter what obstacles might stand in their way. We have a fleet of adapted bikes, a glorious nature reserve for riders to explore and a wealth of knowledge in our experienced instructors."
