Jane's Bibles for Ukrainian refugees in Poland

Bibles for Ukrainian refugees in Poland · 13 May 2022
The war in Ukraine rumbles on and I receive various “reports” from Christian charities that are working in Ukraine sharing about miracles among the people still living there that they are working with. One report was how the Christian charity were able to provide prescription medication because of the financial support from their supporters. This enables people in Ukraine to order their prescription medication at the church and the charity can arrange to get it shipped in. This has touched the hearts of those who use this system because there is no medication in the shops and the people asked how they can do this, and they say because other Christians outside Ukraine care and want to help them. The report tells the people are moved to tears and are now asking for Bibles… However, these are not available to buy.
Likewise, another charity reports that in the Ukrainian refugee camp in Poland the physical needs are being met by the major charities like the Red Cross and in the clothing etc. distribution centres they can choose what they need but they are always being asked for Bibles and they don’t have any… the refugees are so desperate for a Bible to bring comfort and hope that one Eastern Orthodox church reported that all of its prayer books have been taken from the church.
I learned about this because to help Ukraine I chose to give to these Christian Charities, and one has written to ask again because they can supply bibles if they are funded. When the second letter came I gave again but I asked myself what can I do to help?
Love is a verb. I setup this JustGiving page to send money directly to the Bible Society. I know some of you have already seen it and have donated already – To those people a big thank you. I would just ask that if you know people who might be prepared to give please pass on my message and ask if they can help too… Love is a verb!
