Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have the privilege of being married to the afore mentioned 'extraordinary man' David Mathews and our team of Southerners consists of me Jane, my son and daughter Sam and Annie Bentley and my Dad Keith Ridden. We are joining David's daughter Eve, granddaughter Ellie and friends Janice and George on this trek to raise awareness and money for Parkinson's because of David's diagnosis last year.
David is leading the trek, it's what he does. For the past 19 years David has taken over 9,000 people on treks and challenges all over the world to raise money for charities, including Parkinson's UK. He understands that it is usually a love for others and a need to do something useful that drives people to take on these challenges and truly admires anyone who is prepared to push themselves to reach their goal. Because of that he goes to great lengths to motivate and encourage people to keep going even when they've almost given up. I'm sure that his singing and (bad) jokes have been responsible for getting many, many people to the top of Kilimanjaro. And 2019 will be no different, David will still be out changing the lives of hundreds of people on challenges in the UK and abroad. Respect Kiboko!
Away from his day job David is a fantastic partner and more recently Husband. He looked after me when I was going through surgery and chemotherapy a few years ago. He is hugely important to Sam and Annie and my parents Keith and Irene. As I said earlier it is usually a love of others and a need to do something useful that drives people to take on a fundraising challenge and it is certainly true for us Southerners. There is no one else in the world that my 79 year old Dad would walk 100km through the desert for.
