Communication Matters aims to increase awareness, understanding and knowledge of the needs of people who struggle to communicate. Due to the pandemic they have been facing financial difficulties. 

I am a communication device user and the charity means a lot to me and others in the AAC community.

In 2020 I decided to spend the month of August raising funds and awareness for this very valuable charity. I love riding on my mobility scooter but cannot use my communication device on it, I aimed to do 500 miles during August so my ride became #500mileswithoutavoice.

I went out on my scooter every day during the month of August, I ended up doing 1020 miles and raised £2510 + £294.50 gift aid.

Communication Matters are still in need of help so I have decided to do it all again- I am aiming to cover even more miles this time and hope to raise even more funds.

I will be doing the ride during July 2021.

All my rides will be tracked on the Strava app and posted on Facebook.
