Story
Dear all!!
This year there are 8 of us.... myself, my mum, my dad & Abi...who all cycled last June, are now joined by Ben, Rob, Phil and Emily :)
We are again trying to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and in 2012 we raised over £1,500 which was amazing! Thanks to all who donated and to our other team members Will, Coops, Rose and Alex for joining us.
We would love to add to that amount this year and hope that some of you will kindly donate whatever you can for this wonderful charity. If not, and you're around in Brighton on Sunday 16th June, then please meet us at the end, with preferably a bottle of cider to hand...
A lot of you may have seen the advert with Vinnie Jones in, accompanied by the Bee Gees song 'staying alive'. Although seeing Vinnie pumping away to this song is definitely an amusing way to remember these life saving skills; this advert has done an amazing job at teaching the general pubic and it has already saved a number of lives.
Angela Burt's Story
Angela didn’t hear her early morning alarm because she had gone into cardiac arrest - but thankfully her partner Derek did. Spotting she wasn’t breathing, he immediately began hard and fast Hands-only CPR, remembering to time compressions to the beat of Stayin’ Alive. Thanks to Derek’s quick-thinking and brave actions, the pair walked down the aisle eight months later.
It's wonderful stories such as this that highlight how the BHF are doing a great job at raising awareness of heart attacks and ultimately saving lives in the process. Raising money for campaigns such as this is crucial, and so we all would be most grateful for your support.
Many thanks and wish us luck... and good weather! :)
Jamie, Rita, Peter, Rob, Emily, Abi, Phil and Ben
