Story

I am a Children’s Nurse and have worked in the NHS for over 20 years.  During lock down Nidum Nannies was born to provide childcare focussing on quality standards and supporting the regulation of the Nanny industry.  To read about us got to www.nidumnannies.com

We have a corporate relationship with NYAS and our partners, myself and Paul Lowther (a Children’s Nurse and Teacher) believe in the important work NYAS does. Read more at www.nyas.net

  • There are over 85000 Children in care in the England & Wales.  That's 3 times the capacity of the O2 arena, or about 1070 London buses. Children in care are four times more likely to have a mental health difficulty, which in many cases is attributed to isolation and loneliness.
  • One third of care leavers become homeless within the first two years of leaving care leading to health social care issues, and in turn renders them more vulnerable to alcohol, substance misuse and health issues.
  • Children in care are significantly more likely to be reported missing than those not in care, with over 1 in 10 going missing compared to 1 in 200 of those not in care.

A 40 something, strapped to the wing of 1940's aeroplane, terrified of heights flying at speeds of up 140mph should be a walk in the park - yikes.

At NYAS we listen to what care experienced children and young people want, care about what they say, and empower them to get their voice heard to improve their situation. We influence, lobby and campaign to bring about positive changes and ensure children’s and young people’s rights are upheld.
