- There are over 85000 Children in care in the England & Wales. That's 3 times the capacity of the O2 arena, or about 1070 London buses. Children in care are four times more likely to have a mental health difficulty, which in many cases is attributed to isolation and loneliness.
- One third of care leavers become homeless within the first two years of leaving care leading to health social care issues, and in turn renders them more vulnerable to alcohol, substance misuse and health issues.
- Children in care are significantly more likely to be reported missing than those not in care, with over 1 in 10 going missing compared to 1 in 200 of those not in care.
