Story
I turned 16 last week and am from a small household of three. Despite being shy, I am sociable amongst people I know well. I love my school where I spend a lot of time with many of my friends. I also enjoy a wide range of sports.
Since February, the Covid-19 pandemic has ravaged the UK, my school has now been closed for 7 weeks and the country has been in a state of lockdown for the last 6. Like many other school children in the country, I have been taking virtual lessons at home and spending more time in front of a computer, as well as trying to squeeze in some physical exercise.
During this time I am constantly reminded of the tens of thousands of deaths caused by Covid-19 with countless stories in the media, I was particularly struck by the news lately that care homes are being severely affected by this awful disease. I really want to do my bit to help them so I have decided to do a charity skip, raising money for a nursing home that is very close to my heart. Brunelcare in Somerset, is where my grandmother spent the last two years of her life and everyone there did a fantastic job looking after her.
I will commit to skipping for 20 mins straight every day for a month, commencing on Tuesday 12th May, in hope that you will donate generously to this wonderful care home.
