Story

Primrose was our beloved 4-year-old little girl who unfortunately lost her life on 2nd February to epilepsy.

We rescued little primrose at the age of 5 months from a bad situation in the September of 2018. she was a really hyper-happy dog who got on with everyone she met (humans & Dogs). she loved every little creature she met from horses to mice and practically loved life to the fullest.

Unfortunately, it didn't last, in June 2022 we were getting ready to go to beagle fest in the UK and primrose started fitting. she was rushed to the Medivets where they helped her come out of her seizure. she then when on to have a cluster of seizures (around 3-4) a month, which we honestly didn't mind. It may have taken a hit on her body each time but the seizures never broke that little girl's personality.

On the 31st of January, it started out as a normal day, we went for a lovely walk that morning, and the family went about their day. towards the night time, the family settled down for the evening and played with all of our dogs, and had a laugh among us.
The end of the day was nearing, and we all headed to bed. Primrose settled under the blanket at the foot of my bed and slept until 2300.
This is when it all went wrong, she stood up, looked at me, and then her eyes went into the back of her head and she fell to the ground with a thud. i rushed out of bed, shouting for the rest of the family to come and help, primrose at the time was shaking everywhere.
I gave her 1 dose of 10mg rectal diazepam and it didn't do anything, we called Medivets for help, and they told u to give her the second dose of 10mg rectal diazepam, but unfortunately, it too didn't have any effect on stopping the seizures, at this point, the family called the decision to rush her to the emergency Pet Hospital at 2345 as primrose has already had 11 seizures in the space of 20 minutes.
When we got to the vet, she has a further 3 more. then she had a further 10 that we know of, at the vet. By 3 am we received a phone call from the vet to tell us that they had to sedate little primrose to help her brain and body recover. we all knew that the damage had been done already sadly.
Medivets kept Primrose in a padded kennel in the dark trying to aid her recovery back to health but every time they took her off sedation, she went straight into a fit.
On Thursday 2nd of February, The family made the hardest decision anyone has to make and that was to let our baby spotty girl go. it wasn't fair on her to keep her going as she was, she had no quality of life bless her.

In memory of our beloved primrose, we are raising as much as we can for Royal Veterinary College Animal Care Trust which gives funds to the Royal Veterinary College Canine Epilepsy Research (https://www.rvc.ac.uk/research/projects/epilepsy-in-companion-animals)

The Royal Veterinary College Canine Epilepsy Research is brilliant as one day with enough research, they can help dogs live a full life with the early diagnosis of Epilepsy and better management and treatment of it.
further to this page our family will be joining friends from Beaglefest to do a 3.5-mile walk with other beagles. I would like primroses memory to help other dogs that are in the same situation as her.

Thank you for your support and the time to read through our story.

I will keep you updated as things progress
