Story
So there I was sitting at my desk pondering the mysteries of the fitness world when Laetecia and Alex came in and told I was doing Trailwalker 2014. Unaware of exactly what Trailwalker was and sensing that this was one of those situations where it was better to nod and agree with both my bosses rather than make waves I accepted. A week later I googled the event I had unwittingly signed up for. Needless to say I had a panicked conversation with bosses straight away… they were less than understanding. To this end I find myself in a brutal regime instigated by Alex and Tish an event that will cover 100km in under 30 hours in some pretty unforgiving terrain. My confidence in my team mates has remained steadfast despite such questions as; well I thought we would just walk east? Do we really need waterproofs? and what do you mean horses can use roads?
Cynical joking aside the event promises to be an incredibly challenging event and will push us to the limit. Please take a few moments to donate a few quid for the event. Oxfam is a world leader in the third sector and I can say from experience that the money will go to some of the neediest places on earth. Just the price of a beer can potentially help to send a child school or provide a family with the means of making money and working their way out of poverty. In summary this event will take away two of my favourite things; sleep and sitting down for 30 hours (at least) and instead replace with blisters, mind numing fatigue and general soreness… please give generously.
