Story
Hello All,
Thank you for taking the time to read through the reason of this challenge and this go fund me.
It is a topic that is really close to home for me and for most people, as well as all serving soldiers.
Why are we doing it?
At the start of 2022 a good friend of mine and others took his own life, his name was Jack Jarvis. A Lance Corporal in the British army, serving in the REME regiment. Jack was honestly the most down to earth boy I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. His crazy laugh, smile and personality would have you rolling around in stitches for hours. His witty comments that he would make in a time where you were supposed to be straight faced and serious would be constant to the point, you could never not laugh around him. I can honestly say he got thrills from seeing others smile, and nowadays that is so rare. Jack would always make sure you were sorted with whatever it may be, before sorting himself out. Jack was a true warrior, a solid friend and an even better soldier.
I had the pleasure of deploying with Jack on multiple occasions, including an overseas deployment to Canada in June 2018. Even in the red hot summer he’d be bouncing around trying to boost the morale of everyone. Jack truly was a one in a life time character to be around.
The saddest part of all suicides due to mental health is that it is the people who always have a smile on their face, the people that put others before them and make sure people are always laughing, smiling and having a good time that they forget to check on themselves. It’s not their fault at all, their heart is just so pure. It’s the people you’d never expect and that is the poisonous thing about mental health. You can’t see it from the outside, it hides away from the outside world.
What’s the challenge?
This challenge that me and Joe Hoole will be doing is the “UK 3 peak challenge” in under 24 hours. We will be completing this on the 31/5/23, no matter the weather.
This consists of climbing to the summit, and back down of:
Mount Snowdon 1085m (North Wales)
Scafell Pike 978m (Yorkshire Lake District)
Ben Nevis 1345m (Scotland)
At the summit of each mountain we will be getting a photo holding a T-shirt of Jack’s face on it. This is due to this being something he’s always wanted to do. I personally think it’s only right we get to see something he always spoke about with him watching us and as part of the team. Throughout this challenge we will also time ourselves.
The charity we are wanting to raise money for is the Head-Up Charity.
A brief overview of what the charity is about goes as follows:
The Head-Up Charity is a non-for-profit charity and was made by 4 veterans of the British forces. Between them they have served over 50 years and been on 11 operation tours.
They know exactly how your mental health deteriorates due to constantly being under such high pressure, whether that be over seas or in the UK, and how difficult it can be to get the support needed for things like PTSD, depression and anxiety.
They have also had friends who have took their own lives because they couldn’t get the help they desperately needed.
Their mission is to change all of this, to raise mental health awareness for UK armed forces, and empower members of the military community who are at breaking point and close to it to recover their mental health and live a bright, healthy future.

Our Aim
Our aim and reason for doing this, is not only for Jack but for many other serving soliders and veterans. In the hope that this gives them the light at the end of the tunnel, that there is always someone willing to listen.
After all, “a problem shared, is a problem halved” is a quote I’ve always held close to me since losing Jack and it needs to be broadcasted round the Armed Forces.
We all know it seems daunting speaking to anyone about your mental health. The fear of the unknown is always scary. Please just make the first step, and others will then help you across the bridge.
I think I can speak for everyone when I say this, I would rather have my mate cry on my shoulder and I will do anything in the world to help them, then carry their coffin for their final rest.
We shouldn’t have to be having our friends & family tattoo’d on us, having to hold onto nothing but memories for something that can always be prevented by speaking up and getting the help you deserve!
All donations, big and small are more appreciated then the human brain could understand. Even just sharing this to everywhere you can will get the message round the troops.
It’s time to speak up, from the rivalry of different regiments, this is one thing we can and will always hold hands on.
Thank you
