Story
This year has been a write-off for all of us. The coronavirus pandemic has affected everyone in various ways. Thankfully, the majority of us are able to return to the shelter and safety of our homes. Most of us are also lucky enough to have friends and family to help us through tough times. Many others do not have these luxuries which we can take for granted.
According to the latest Government figures, collected in the autumn of 2019 and published in February 2020, 4,266 people are estimated to be sleeping rough on a single 'typical' night. In the last decade, the rough sleeping figure has increased by 141%.
Chester Aid to the Homeless are on the front line, helping the most desperate members of our society. This year, as a result of Covid-19, the annual Sleep Out hosted by CATH is unable to take place. This is the biggest fundraising event of the year for the charity. In order to try and raise some money, I have set myself a challenge.
On 4th December, I will be spending a night on the streets to raise money for CATH. I will be leaving the house at 7pm with minimal supplies and staying out in the cold until 7am the next morning. I will be providing updates throughout the night via social media and anybody who wants to come and say hello or bring me a coffee can do so! I understand that this is a very difficult time financially for everyone so any donation whatsoever will be massively appreciated.
