Jack Baynes' Vegetarian Cook Off!

Jack Baynes' Vegetarian Cook Off! · 19 November 2021
A few months ago, I wanted to pursue an idea that the simplest but most efficacious/delicious food would be the talk of the town. This, I did through Jack Baynes' Simple Chef Showdown! (fundraising for CAFOD, as I once was a Young Leader for them!)
I lost every single video (one of them unfairly), because the rules I created tried to be more world-saving than recognising my cookery skills. I lacked new invitees, and there wasn't as much fundraising as I had hoped. (Also, it was summer and I was preparing for uni)
Now that I'm settled in at uni (Nottingham), and I've been cooking for myself vegetarian food for weeks, I can do my bit for COP26 and host a better competition, where food should be vegetarian, fresh, inexpensive, locally sourced, and most importantly - rid of red tape!
I will be hosting fellow university flatmates, and hopefully others from across my Hall of Residence (Broadgate Park). I wish to raise £500 as a realistic target, but note that I can easily raise this if it becomes to easy!
The world is struggling down to climate change, and it takes a lot of energy and grazing land to raise animals for slaughter. But I can topple the meat temptation; it's unhealthy anyway. If you join me, the world will use less energy, clear less trees, cause a lower carbon footprint and most importantly - disrupt less ecosystems!
I recommend you choose this form of fundraising, based on three amounts:
High: Donate the highest amount per video that is top quality!
Low: Donate little or nothing at all when it comes to worst possible videos!
Medium: Donate somewhere between high and low for mediocre/good videos
E.g. I have one superb video, I'm willing to pay £2 at best. The next video is so dreadful, I pay nothing. The third video is better but rather mediocre, so I'll give £1
I hope you enjoy! And don't forget to beat the meat!
