Story
As you will be aware, on 26th May 2020, my brother Gavin suddenly passed away at the young age of 45.
He was a keen runner for much of his life, completing multiple marathons and half marathons, so I have decided that in his memory to attempt my own running challenge. I am going to be running and walking from Liverpool to Leeds following the 127 miles of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. This is going to mean covering roughly 45 miles a day over the course of the second May Bank Holiday (28-30th).
In the current Covid climate it has been difficult to celebrate Gavin’s life in the way we would all have liked by getting together. Gavin was one of the kindest and most generous people I have known and indeed his friends said he was the least materialistic person they knew apart from wanting a new pair of New Balance trainers every couple of months. He was well known for trying to help any homeless and/or vulnerable people he bumped in to along the way and also with those in his life. He never passed by on the other side. Given this I have decided to raise money for St George's Crypt who are a Leeds-based charity who offer care, compassion and hope to the homeless, vulnerable and those suffering addiction.
Any donations, no matter how small, would be extremely welcome and gratefully received.
Much love,
J-H x
