Hello Family, Friends, Supporters and Punishers!
While I've personally always enjoyed others taking on feats of glory to raise money for a worthy cause, this year I've decided I need to step-up to the plate and put in the effort myself.... however I've decided to it with a twist.
So to begin with, I've decided to join 3 good mates (known as Bretzy, Sco-Storm& Blistin Tristan) in tackling the Oxfam Trailwalker - which is a 100km hike in 30 hours (non-stop through the night!!) in the south of England. While some of you may be thinking "That's not too bad, but it's not exactly tough is it??" Well the answer is yes. Yes it is tough. Very tough. Up and down through the hills scaling heights taller than the highest peaks in the UK. Blisters, exhaustion, black toes, rain (most likely), starvation, emotional turmoil etc etc. However I hear your pleas, and that's why I've decided to make it a little tougher...
Instead of having a fundraising goal, I would like to offer you a challenge for every donation made. For each person that donates at least £25, you can request a challenge to be completed during the hike. The toughness of the challenge should reflect the generosity of your donation, for example for £25 you could request 10 burpees or push-ups, maybe walk 250m backwards, maybe wear a silly hat, for £100 you could request something more extreme (I don't want to give you ideas) just imagine what you could request for £500.... I should point out that your requests don't have to be physically demanding, they could be "Have a nice drink of cold water and put your feet up for 10 minutes". To support this effort, I will take a video/photo of each challenge during the hike to prove that it's been completed and upload in real-time on social media.
Oxfam is awesome. They are 100% committed to tacking poverty, injustice and suffering across the world. I love that by doing something silly like this challenge we get to raise awareness and £££ for an awesome cause, and I'm privileged to be able to do this. Get donating and make your request in the comments when you donate!
*Some caveats on the requests:
1) No Nudity - this is a family event. (Amazing how many people want me to get my kit off that I'm thinking of a career change)
2) No alcohol (during the event). Energy and sustenance is key to completing the 100km event, jeopardizing my nutritional health won't be pretty for anyone.
3) If you request requires props, please help to provide/source and they can be delivered to me in advance. I will have a support crew who can assist bringing them.
4) I need to abide by some rules for the event, ie have to wear shoes etc, i'll let you know if you violate any of these.
5) If I fail your request (or the walk), i'll cover your donation personally!
