"Let's remember that, apart from his dependable teamwork with Jill in distributing our event flyers around the city centre, and taking over from Julieanne as delivery address for campaign supplies, it was John's persistence for over a year that finally resulted in the January/February 2019 launch, with Adam, of our Migration campaign, the culminating event of which he chaired when Guy came to lead the excellent "Difficult Conversations" afternoon in late October.

During the earlier part of 2019, ignoring the ongoing throes of aggressive longterm cancer treatment, John not only promoted to us, and turned out to be the sole available banner carrier for us at, two city-centre "Hands off Venezuela" demonstrations, but, most magnificently of all, insisted on putting in a heroic solo all-day stand to make sure our campaign stall at the South Yorkshire Festival at Wortley Hall in August didn't get cancelled for lack of volunteers. 

Even as recently as early November, despite looking very thin and tired, John still put in his promised two hours on our campaign stall at the Peace and Craft Fair in the Town Hall.

Most of all, though, I as chair of the group will personally deeply miss John's always-there generous-hearted warmth, instinctive friendliness with every one, and infectious positiveness and sense of humour, throughout his years as a core activist  –  at once supportive and positively critical  –  for Global Justice Sheffield."
