Story
These last 12 months have hit different, and this year in light of all things going on in the world, I decided it was time for me to try and make a difference in someone else's life.
Most people participate in Dry July, but I have decided to crank it up a notch and do Dry June AND July, in the hopes to raise awareness and some much needed funds for The Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
The Indigenous Literacy Foundation is a non-for-profit national book industry charity, dedicated to lifting literacy levels in remote Indigenous communities, so all children across Australia have the same choices and opportunities.
Every child in Australia, wherever they live, has the right to thrive and to excel in education. We cannot expect to achieve justice for our First Peoples without setting First Nations children up to succeed in education. Literacy doesn't only connect these children to their future, it also aids in carrying on their past and enabling them to pass down their stories with them. I want these children to have access to all the resources that they should have; the resources that I took for granted growing up.
I want to contribute to bridging that gap towards reconciliation and I want to be a part of a process that is making change. This foundation is doing some incredible work and I want to support them in any way that I can.
Any donation big or small goes a long way.
Thanks so much,
Izzy
