We raise funds and awareness to improve mental health services

Story

We are four old friends with deep ties to Cornwall. The pub talk is over and now we have entered the ’World’s Toughest Row 2024’ - an epic 3000-mile voyage from the Canaries to Antigua. We are raising money for Invictus Trust and the incredible work with Adolescent Mental Health issues in Cornwall.

The Charity

Founded in 2011 after Ben Cowburn lost a battle with mental health aged just 18, Invictus Trust has grown to become a leading charity and voice for adolescent mental health in Cornwall and the South-West.

The Trust has raised money and awareness for mental health in young people for over 10 years and the work they do is increasingly important.

Their newest project, a counselling service for 11 to 21-year-olds in Cornwall, received 100 referrals in the first eight days and scheduled over 1,000 counselling sessions in the first six months. This invaluable project cost £100,000 to launch, so we aim to raise the same amount during the World’s Toughest Row so that the incredible project can run for a second year.

We are incredibly passionate about Invictus Trust and eternally grateful for all the sponsorships and donations we have received so far. It’s wonderful to see so many people take action in support of young people’s mental health.

The Challenge

We (James, Luke, Paul and Dave) are participating in the World’s Toughest Row 2024. Over 40 crews worldwide will compete in the gruelling annual race from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, to Antigua. We are so proud to row as 'Invictus Atlantic' in honour of our chosen charity Invictus Trust and raise money and awareness to support adolescent mental health in Cornwall and the South-West.

1 Boat 4 Men 42+ Days 3000Nm

In December 2024, we will row 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean, two hours on, and two hours off, for over six weeks. Between us, that’s about 6,000,000 oar strokes!

The race is unassisted. We must take all our food, make our own water, and carry all the required kit and equipment while battling 40ft waves, sleep deprivation, and the open ocean environment.

And we need your help to do it...

The Funds

All the money raised through our Justgiving page will go directly towards Invictus Trust.

If you wish to donate towards equipment to get us to – and through! – the World's Toughest Row, visit our crowdfunder page.

The end goal? Use the challenge to raise money and awareness for Invictus Trust and their amazing work with young people in Cornwall and the South-West. Throughout this journey, we hope to raise £100,000 for Invictus Trust.

Thank you so much for your continued support,

James, Luke, Paul and David
