Story
This Christmas, we’ve decided to launch a small campaign to support the Standard Six, Seven and Eight girls at Banda Hill Primary School, Dedza.
Many girls start their menstrual cycles whilst still of primary school age. Sanitation in rural Malawian schools is poor & and these young girls will often miss school due to the challenges of managing their period.
Because disposable pads are too expensive, women & girls often use old clothes, newspapers or even banana leaves to pad their underwear, which can pose a serious health threat.
We are aiming to provide each girl in Standard 6, 7 & 8 with a pack from Supreme! Supreme is a sustainable social enterprise in Malawi making reusable sanitary pads. They reinvest 100% of their profit in the business; supporting the local economy and providing employment.
Each pack will contain 5 pads, knickers and soap. We will also organise for Supreme to send a representative in to Banda Hill School in order to provide menstrual and reproductive health training to the girls.
Please support our appeal and help us raise £1000 so that each girl in the senior junior classes can receive a pack from Supreme.
