Story

Hellooo yesss to everyone, as if I didn't need another method of procrastination, I am now trying to raise £3100 for Save the Children. I will be spending the summer in Tanzania, helping in community projects and working in a hospice providing care for orphaned children with HIV. Oh.. and casually climbing Kilimanjaro on the way... As a group, we hope to raise £35, 000 which goes straight to Save the Children. Laura Carruthers has promised to begin the fundraising bonanza with 69p, any other donations would be much, much appreciated (and in all honestly - reeeeeallly needed). If I reach the unlikely target of 3 grand, I promise to bungee jump dressed as a big yellow banana. It's a good look. Now as for all the gory details, read below...

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit this page, I really need your help!! I know you all probably get a lot of similar e-mails and links but this time I thought I'd finally get off my bum and do something meaningful with my life.

This summer I will be taking part in a group project in Tanzania with Durham University Charities Kommittee (DUCK). We will be climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and afterwards spend a few weeks working in a hospice providing care for orphaned children with HIV/AIDS. The total aim of the project is to raise £35, 000 for Save the ChildrenHaving witnessed the effects of HIV first-hand when growing up in South Africa, this project is very close to my heart, whilst climbing Kilimanjaro will be the biggest challenge of my life thus far.

By the summer I will need to have raised £3,100. Everything donated on this page goes to Save the Children whilst other fundraising events will be held which will help towards expenses such as accommodation and flights.

Clearly this is a huge and rather daunting target to reach and so any donation, no matter how small, would be SO much appreciated. All money will go directly to Save the Children and would be making an invaluable difference to not only this fund raising project, but to helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

Save the Children helps children in over 110 countries, aiming to eradicate poverty through healthcare, food, education and protection, whilst also providing relief for emergency situations.

It is in this particular area that your money will be sent, contributing to Save the Children's crisis fund. When a global crisis strikes, you can know that your money is helping in so many ways. Just check out the website and see for yourself http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/

Anyway, this runs the risk of becoming cheesy and self righteous. Do the right thing yeah?? Simply donate here and all donations will be made safely and securely, going directly through DUCK to Save the Children. Also, if you have any fundraising ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated so just give me a shout.

Alternatively, any cheques can be made out to DUCK and can be sent to Ingrid du Toit, 4 Mowbray Street, Durham, DH1 4BH. If you would like any more information, or want to contribute to fund raising ideas, don't hesitate to e-mail me at ingrid.du-toit@dur.ac.uk.

Thank you so much for your time.
