Story
Bloody Good Period is a bloody good charity that needs our help.
I shall be doing non-stop 108 yoga sun salutations on Sunday, 19 November at 2:30pm to raise as much money as possible for Bloody Good Period in celebration of my upcoming batmitzvah. My batmitzvah at the more regular age of thirteen didn't quite happen. I was one of just four Jewish girls at my school and my Hebrew teacher only showed up for a couple of lessons. I am hugely excited to be having a somewhat overdue batmitzvah - along with three other women, in December 2023.
Bloody Good Period is a charity providing period products to those who can't afford them - for example, refugees, the homeless, those fleeing domestic violence and those living in poverty.
1 in 4 women, girls and non-binary people who menstruate have struggled to afford period products in the last year and with the cost-of-living crisis, Bloody Good Period has seen a huge increase in women requiring its help. Some women with babies even have to choose between nappies for their children and menstrual products for themselves.
How donations are spent by Bloody Good Period:
£10 = 4 x packs of tampons
£50 = Full set of reusable period products (5 x pants, 1 x cup, 1 x pack of pads)
£100 = 5 x sets of resources for a menstrual health education workshop
£500 = menstrual health education for refugees
£1000 = 50 x bulk deliveries of period products to partner organisations such as schools, homeless charities, organisations supporting refugees and food banks
Doing non-stop 108 yoga sun salutations will take approximately 3 hours. It will be challenging, sweaty, tiring and fun, and all for a fantastic cause.
