Story
In 2019, thousands upon thousands of Hong Kong citizens took a stand against the authoritarian Chinese Government and their plans to allow the people of Hong Kong to be extradited to mainland China if they were to commit any wrongdoings - with the Chinese government already proving to be incredibly forceful and corrupt in nature (look at the mistreatment and practical incarceration of Chinese Muslims, plucked from their homes and put in internment camps for "reformation"), protesters believed those extradited to mainland China would face unfair trials and violent treatment.
The people of Hong Kong also argued the introduction of China's proposed extradition bill would also give China greater powers to silence citizen journalism and critical thinkers of the Xi Jingping administration.
Whilst this extradition bill was eventually in September 2019, there is still a harsh reality facing Hong Kong - with Britain handing back Hong Kong to the Chinese in 1997, Hong Kong was bestowed it's own judiciary system and freedom of assembly and freedom of speech.
But those freedoms - the Basic Law - expire in 2047 and it is not clear what Hong Kong's status will then be. Hong Kong and the fight for rightful independence is still going on, and Id like to contribute to this fight in any way I can hence why I have decided to shave my head and subsequently accept donations for this act.
If you can donate money, then that is superb. If not, I urge you to look into the Hong Kong protests and corresponding "Five Demands, not one less!" and gain an understanding as to why independence for Hong Kong is crucial for democracy in general.
Thank You! - Ieuan
