Story
Alice arrived 3 months early at 28 weeks, weighing 2Ib 11oz. She spent 8 weeks in NICU at QA hospital being cared for by the fantastic team there whilst she grew and got strong enough to come home. Alice is nearly 5 now and has just started school. We are so fortunate that she is healthy and doing so well.
Ickle Pickles support neonatal units by providing much needed equipment to care for premature or sick babies and support their families. This year has been particularly challenging for them as so many fundraising events have not been able to go ahead. As we are unable to organise a coffee afternoon for world prematurity day as we have on previous years, we wanted to do something, so sponsored musical bumps it is!
Having a baby in a neonatal unit is difficult and stressful at the best of times. COVID has meant that parental visits to neonatal units have been limited and skin to skin contact is often not allowed. We really feel for these families. Ickle Pickles have purchased iPads for units so that nurses are able to video message baby footage to the parents at home.
Alice was keen to raise money to help tiny babies in hospital. She (and Daddy!) managed a grand total of 100 musical bumps this morning.
We know it’s a difficult time for many people but if you feel able to make a donation we would be very grateful for your support.
