Story

My Summary

In memory of our beautiful daughter Ani Rose Luker, raising awareness and hopefully much needed funds for the maternity bereavement charity at James Cook.2022 Summary:From starting out with ParkRun 5k's, I ended up running an 80mile Hardmoors Ultra Marathon with a number of other events inbetween which included, Middlesbrough 10k, The Great North Run, The Round Ripon Ultra, The Lyke Wake Challenge - 41mile Ultra and the George Fisher Tea Round which included 19 fells and 30+miles and over 12,000ft ascent.

2023 Plan:

I have entered in to the Hardmoors Marathon Series.A series of marathons which are all longer than the 26.2m distance set in various locations in and around the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors. Also booked the Chester City Marathon and looking at 1 or 2 Ultra marathons all in preparation for an even bigger 2024!

2024 Plan:

Hardmoors Grand Slam Series. 30 / 55 / 110 / 60 Mile Ultra Marathons, the 110 will be my first attempt at a 100mile plus distance, The Great North Run and a tarmac marathon at Croft running festival.

2025 plan:

...

Some, I'll be running solo, and some I'll have the company of fellow 'crazies' who also find... pleasure??? in running these distances.

All major events will be uploaded on here along with photo's / Strava screenshot.

Charity Summary. For the majority of women and their families, pregnancy is a joyous time, and welcomes a new life into the world. Sadly, not all pregnancies have a happy ending. In the UK, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, and everyday 17 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth. This can be a very sad and difficult time for families. Here at James Cook, we have a team of midwives who provide families with individualised support and care, when faced with the unexpected loss of their baby. Within the maternity unit, we have dedicated rooms, offering families the opportunity to spend precious time with their baby, in a peaceful and homely environment. We also provide families with items which they may wish to use to make memories, as they prepare to say their goodbyes. Your donations will allow us to keep on making a difference to our patients and families, and allow them to create precious memories together with their baby.
