Katharine House provides free hospice care services in Mid Staffordshire for people faced with an illness that cannot be cured. The staff cared for my mum on a very personal level from when she fist was diagnosed with cancer right to her final days. The support they gave to our family was outstanding and will never be forgotten. It takes a very special person to work at Katharine house, passionat and caring.
My mum was always talking to the staff about me telling them all about my sport. unfortunately she passed away before i could tell her i was selected to represent GB at the Rio Paralympic games. I really wanted her to be able to see me compete at my first games as i know she would have been proud. watching someone you love lose the fight against cancer is horrible its an image that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Every time i visited my mum she would always ask if i was going to the Paralympics, i really wished i had said yes even though i didn't know. Giving something back to the staff of Katharine house has always been on my mind as they were so kind and without them it would have been so much harder to cope with losing my mum.
I wanted to do the Strictly event as I've never danced before and see it as a new challenge especially being in a wheelchair. So please give me your support and help me give something back to everyone at Katharine House.
