Ian's Rehabilitation Appeal

Wheelchair Appeal · 20 June 2019
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 23rd December 2018 I was involved in a motorcycle accident on the M25 while travelling to work. I sustained two broken Femurs and broke my Back at Thoracic 12. I was taken to and operated at St George’s London where I had two titanium pins inserted in my legs and a titanium plate on my Back. I was also left with a Spinal chord injury meaning I have limited sensation in my legs , bum and groin, minimal movement in my feet and ankles and limited bladder and bowel control. I spent four months in hospital and rehabilitation centres. I now need use of a wheelchair.
Six months on from my life changing event and I am looking to get back to work it’s been a very testing time for myself, my wife Stacey who I married on the 1st December 2018 but also my family and friends. I have been asked many times if there is anything anyone can do to help which I’ve always struggled to answer. I feel this a great way to help not only me but the fantastic charity Aspire which helps many other people with Spinal Chord injuries.
Looking forward, I have a critical window of recovery, this fund will be used for my immediate future needs and rehabilitation, including my own lightweight unique wheelchair to enable me to return to work, mobilise easily and with comfort. Further specialist Physio,, Acupuncture and Reflexology. I remain and continue to be positive something I strive for everyday.
