My son Noah was born with a very unusual genetic condition called CAH.
It went undetected at birth but Noah's health gradually deteriorated - we had various doctor and hospital visits over the first 4 weeks of his life but his constant sickness and weight loss was just put down to usual baby vomit and my wife "not feeding him properly", but we knew something wasn't right.
All of a sudden his health took a turn for the worst, we rushed him into Hospital (Guildford Royal Surrey) where a specialist in this condition just happened to be working the shift at the time and suspected from the start that his symptoms could be adrenal related. He was immediately wired up to machines and tubes and the following week was a total nightmare for my wife and I, but the doctors and nurses were amazing. Once they had his tests confirmed he was given steroids and he very quickly bounced back, and started to put on weight again.
Noah is now a cheeky 4 year old and bosses around his 2 older brothers! He needs 2 different steroids 3 times a day and will do for the rest of his life, but otherwise lives a healthy life. We're so grateful to the team that saved his life at Guildford Royal Surrey and the constant support they continue to give us.
