Story
Last year a group of wild swimmers organised a sunrise swim at Wardie Beach in Edinburgh for International Women's Day. With 70 women taking part, it was a really special event.
This year we are doing it again, but this time using this amazing opportunity to raise money for Edinburgh Women’s Aid a local charity that last year supported 1788 women and 187 children to recover from trauma of domestic abuse.
If you are one of the intrepid swimmers joining us at sunrise on the 8th March, please consider making a donation. (Suggested donation £10.00) We are also welcoming those who wish to show support from the shore.
Alternatively, you can take part by supporting us from the comfort of your own bed and donate here.
£5 will pay for a personal alarm for a woman who is being stalked or harassed by their ex-partner.
£25 will enable a woman in crisis with no access to funds to buy food for herself and her family
£50 will enable a woman to buy clothing, shoes for herself and her children if she’s fled her home with nothing.
£100 will contribute to the cost and fitting of fireproof letterboxes for women who want to stay in their own homes but are at risk of arson attacks.
£250 will contribute to the cost of an adventure break in Scotland for children who have had their childhood blighted by domestic abuse.
£500 will support a 12 week therapeutic programme to help rebuild the relationship between mothers and their children who have both been traumatised by abuse.
Let’s mark this year’s International Women’s Day by seeing how much we can raise to support local women and children on their journey to recovery.
Thank you!
