This year we are supporting the Essex based Breast Cancer charity Lady McAdden. Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the charity.
Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust, formerly known as BUST, will talk about the importance of knowing your own body and how this helps with the early detection of Breast Cancer.
Established in 1976, Lady McAdden have a long history of supporting the women of Essex and beyond.
They provide access to specialist nurses (without the need for a GP referral).
Their nurses will help you to discover what is normal for you, they will help you with your technique for self-examination and offer tips to ensure you are confident, advise what changes to look for and what to do if changes occur.
42% of newly diagnosed Breast Cancer in the UK is found by women themselves during self-examination however nearly half of us admit to never doing it! Our mission is to change this.
The first lockdown forced us to update the way they worked and introduced remote appointments via video link and telephone. This has proved very popular; they still offer this along with face-to-face appointments from our unit next to Southend Hospital and as part of our Nurses in the Community project from locations like Coco-Boo Lingerie in Leigh on Sea.
Lady McAdden are delighted to have been chosen as our Charity this year and look forward to what the year ahead brings.
