Story
I'm taking a sebbatical to sail in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in honor of my mentor in Pediatric Surgery and founding member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, Dr. Al deLorimier. He encouraged me to pursue sailing as a passion in addition to pediatric surgery. UNICEF is the charity partner for the Race and I will be sailing on the bespoke Ambassador boat and helping to raise money and awareness for UNICEF!
To complete the full circumnavigation is one of the most challenging endurance events on the planet!
I will be sailing over 40,000 nautical miles, crossing the equator twice, the international date line, multiple oceans, and visiting 6 continents over 11 months. This will be a demanding challenge for our international crew with storms, mountainous waves, extremes of temperature, wind, and seastate, in a wet, leaning, exhausting environment! The first leg from the UK to Uruguay starts from London September 1, 2019. Then on to South Africa, Australia, Philippines, China, US, Panama, ... before returning to the UK in August 2020.

Please show your encouragement for this adventure by supporting our very worthy charity UNICEF! All donations (100%) go to UNICEF directly to help children worldwide. UNICEF ensures more children get life-saving food, vaccinations, education and protection than anyone else!
