Vitality Bath Half Marathon 2017 · 12 March 2017 ·

Story

As some of you will know Daisy and I lost our Mum, Carole last Christmas.  An intelligent, hilarious and glamorous lady she was.

She died from liver failure, caused by alcoholism.

Like many of us will in this life time, she struggled with depression, and was affected deeply by the darkness and loneliness that comes with it.
Which is in essence why we are doing this...

To quote one of her favorites 'Only a fine mind can hurt itself'....

Daisy and I are running this half marathon for her and our great and wonderfully unique friend Alex Hocken, who died in November. Both were supported by the team at DHI at various points.

We want both their legacy's to live on in our family and the Hocken family, and channel any sadness we have into cherishing each other, but also speak up when we feel low or helpless.

To raise awareness for how mental health can affect us all, to thank the good people at DHI and champion their work for the cause, Daisy and I are going to go for a good old long run (probably not together as Daisy will be much faster than I!)

So please please sponsor us to support services like DHI that speak UP about the darkness that will more than likely affect every single one of us at some point, you are not alone

On March 12th exactly 15 months since Mum left us we will run round our home city of Bath, and celebrate with our friends and family who knew and loved both her and our big-hearted friend Alex Hocken.

DHI is a local service based in Bath who support people who have had problems with addiction, depression and more. DHI have helped Mum and Alex a number of times with support and friendship, please give a little if you can.
