Story
On the 16th September I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and told that it's terminal and one of the most aggressive cancers a person can get. The average lifespan is around 2 years with surgery and 3% live up to 5 years. Most cancers have changed in the last 40 years and have gone from 3% to 80% survival rate - but not Pancreatic Cancer.
I broke down that day as I went home and told my family. A day later, I went with my family to see the specialist nurse in Cheltenham with lots of questions in tow and before I said anything, she said, "You may have a glimmer of hope but don't get your hopes up". My blood count showed irregularities and was low; this was not normal for a person who has Pancreatic Cancer, but I would need to have so many more tests before ruling this out.
I have had a month of turmoil, not knowing if I would live or die. I am a fighter but couldn't help but to start planning the end of my life.
After numerous test in Birmingham over the last 4 weeks, I was told that I don't have Pancreatic Cancer but a non cancerous tumour, a cyst in my liver and a blocked vein. This is still severe and if I don't have the same operation as if I had Pancreatic Cancer, I will probably end up getting it. The procedure is called a Whipple surgery where I will end up losing some of my organs and there can be massive complications, one being fatal. But a month ago I didn't have this option.
I have been given a chance for a sort of normal life with time and
I am a Lucky Man -this is a song by the Verve and something I have always said about me and my life.
I will be posting regular updates and pictures, showing how I am going to beat this. Please share this post with friends, family and work colleagues.
I would like to thank Bente , The Joshi clan , Mr Blake my brother from another mother, my Raging Bull family and most of all to you guys for your support.
