Story
Hibberts LLP are proud, once again, to be taking part in YMCA's Sponsored Sleep Out 2021. The event will take place on Saturday 16th October, where Camille Renaudon and Rowena Buckley will spend the night sleeping in Crewe Market Hall to raise money to support people at risk of homelessness.
The event will hopefully raise awareness of the realities of 'hidden homelessness', a situation faced by many of the YMCA's service users, as well as raising valuable funds for the ongoing work of YMCA.
Many people who have experienced Hidden Homelessness will have been sofa surfing, moving between different friends and family members, with nowhere permanent and secure to stay. This can have a huge impact on physical and emotional wellbeing, as well putting a huge amount of strain on relationships and support networks. It is hard to put an official figure on hidden homelessness, but Crisis estimates that as many as 62% of homeless people may be hidden.
YMCA Crewe provide accommodation and support for people experiencing homelessness, care leavers, unaccompanied asylum seeking children, and refugees. In addition, they provide a range of community activities for children, families, and the socially isolated. YMCA Crewe also run a café and property maintenance service as training opportunities for our service users.
YMCA Crewe offers accommodation to both men and women, although the majority of residents are male. Accommodation is available to adults of all ages, and there have previously been residents aged 80 and above. YMCA Crewe accommodation can be directly accessed by those who need it, and they don't necessarily need to be referred for housing. This means that they can provide accommodation for anyone who needs support.
Even small donations can make a lifechanging difference, so any money you can spare will be greatly appreciated
