Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
At Christmas time I'm usually found in either lounging by the fire, complaining about indigestion or sipping a pint of Harveys at the Bell in Ticehurst.
Not this year.
With the above in mind, and needing more than a little persuasion, I have accepted the kind invitation of my friend and colleague Charlie Eyre to join him on an epic adventure - The Rickshaw Run - taking on 2,500km of India's notoriously dodgy roads from Kochin to Jaisalmer. We fly to India on Boxing Day, and our journey begins on New Year's Day with an expected (optimistic) duration of 2 weeks. This means a minimum of 180km per day in/on a vehicle designed for inner city pottering, and with mind blowing 7bhp under our bums this means a LOT of Tuk-Tuk time; circa 8 hours per day!
We are raising money for 2 charities in this endeavour, one being Cool Earth - www.coolearth.org - which is the chosen charity of the Adventurists, the organisation through which we have been able to facilitate this trip. The other, and the reason for this page, is Arthritis research UK - www.arthritisresearchuk.org. This Charity is close to our hearts, and is something that affects a huge number of people across the nation.
We will be raising this money via both this portal, but also a Charity Auction, to be held at the Hollywood Arms in Chelsea on Thursday 20th November 2014. There are a multitude of lots ranging from a week's Moroccan Villa stay to a delightful Chicken Pie (cooked by Charlie!) as well as a raffle on the night.
If you are able to make the 20th then fantastic. If not then anything we are able to raise from Just Giving will help immensely.
Thank you for anything that you can spare, and, in the slightly adapted words of the tradition Irish Blessing, "May your arms be long, and your pockets shallow"!!
