For many years I have wanted to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats, finally the time has come. I plan to cycle the 1000 miles this August. Family and friends are invited to join me on the route to check the wheels are still turning and others can follow my blog to check on my progress northwards.

The charity I am supporting  is the Leicester Hospitals Charity OUR SPACE appeal. They are embarking on an ambitious project to create a world-class Young People's Cancer Unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary.  As a consultant endocrinologist at the hospital this appeal is very important to me as I am passionate about developing health services to better meet the needs of adolescents and young adults and improving long term care for cancer survivors.

Leicester Hospitals Charity with support from the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Robbie Anderson Cancer Trust, need to raise £1.4 million for the project to go ahead. If the money can be raised in time work on the new unit will start in summer 2012.
