Story

Those that know me know I love to walk, particularly where I consider my true home, the Lake District. It’s a passion I’m hoping my kids will also share and as a family we spend many of our weekends walking. In all weathers.

What some of you may not know is that one of my colleagues, someone I worked closely with and respected greatly, was killed in a mountaineering accident several years ago. This followed shortly after the news that a university friend had also tragically lost his life in a climbing accident.

Luckily we’ve never been in a position of needing to call Mountain Rescue but there are many who have. Their team are amazing putting themselves at risk to help those who are in difficulty out on the fells.
