Story
Alice died suddenly on 6th August 2021 following her unexpected diagnosis of Systemic Scleroderma 10 weeks earlier.
Alice was deeply loved by her wife Helen, friends and family. Having never heard of Systemic Scleroderma before and now sadly knowing of it’s devastating impact on people’s lives, we are walking 1 Million Steps to raise money for SRUK.
There is a group of 4 of us: Helen (Alice’s wife), Anita (her sister-in-law), as well as Jules and Sally (her very dear friends), who will be walking a series of “Alice Walks”, ranging from dales, moors, coasts and mountains, with the end goal being 1 Million Steps taken for the love of Alice.
We’ve chosen the time period of April to August to achieve our steps as April marks the time which would have been Alice and Helen’s 32nd year anniversary together and August in memory of Alice’s passing.
We will be walking in different ways; together as a group of 4, individually and with walking groups. Please help us raise funds for SRUK to help them in their work to promote awareness and support for people and their families, who are diagnosed with this condition.
