Story

Hey Guys!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. While you're sitting down enjoying your coffee, think of me!!! I've got till April to run the 600 miles in my marathon training program!! Most mornings will see me out, come rain or shine, pounding my way along the streets around our home. I've had plenty of strange looks....but it's all worth it when I think of the work that USPG do around the world. All the money raised in sponsorship is going to a project supporting healthcare in Upper Shire, Malawi, a country where a quarter of the population survive on just one meal a day. USPG supports two Church hospitals and numerous health centres (http://www.uspg.org.uk/article.php?article_id=396). It's about working with people to allow them to improve their standard of living, and doing so 'cos I know God loves them!! So come on, don't just laugh at me!!! Help USPG make a difference in people's lives today.

A NOTE FROM MICHAEL.....

 Hello!

I know how much Helen has put in to achieve her goal of completing a marathon for the first time and I want to give as much support as I can. One of the hardest parts of completing a marathon is the motivation to keep putting one foot in front of another. To provide this motivation, I have come up with a 'cunning plan'.

If you would like to sponsor Helen through her marathon, I would like to make it a more personal experience for Helen and for you, through the Help-a-Helen-Home scheme.

This is how, I hope, it works:

Helen is hoping to make it round in 6 hours or 360 minutes. That's a lot of time to run and keep going...around 100 songs on her ipod. I am asking you to consider sponsoring a song (or more) for Helen to listen to as she runs through the streets of London. The song could be a powerful motivational song like 'Eye of the Tiger' or you could opt for something comedic such as 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life'. Queen's 'Another one bites the dust' should probably be avoided but please feel free to let your imagination run wild. I will ensure that your name is attached before the song so Helen knows who is sponsoring each song. If you would like to record your own personal message (30s in Mpg format – technophobes ignore!) I will include that in the playlist instead. All I ask, is that for each song, you consider giving £5 to USPG through Helen's Justgiving site. I will keep the playlist away from Helen's eyes so that she can be pleasantly (?) surprised on the day.

Help-a-Helen-Home Scheme:

  1. Choose a song

  2. Let me (Michael) know which song at: Revchat@googlemail.com

  3. Record a personalised message (30s) and email to above address (optional).

  4. Sponsor Helen (£5 per song) at her Justgiving site.

  5.

  1. If you would like a copy of the final playlist, let me know and I will send it before the marathon.

Thank you for your support. I know Helen will appreciate the personalised playlist created for her and will make it round.

All the best,

Michael
