Three Peaks Challenge

On the 15th June this year, me and my Sister will be walking the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales In 24 hours..yes 24 hours, to raise much needed funds for Cancer Research UK.

Starting the challenge in Scotland, Mountain No 1: Ben Nevis, the highest of the 3 totalling 10.5 miles. Next England and Mountain No 2: Scafell Pike, this 6 mile hike starts in the dark! Last stop Wales and Mountain No 3: Snowdon, a hard 7 miles to the finish. This is a tough challenge draining your energy and depriving you of sleep. We need to walk all 3 mountains in around 13 hours as the driving route between the mountains is 462 miles long, taking around 10 hours in good traffic.

Why are we doing it? Our Dad Steve, was diagnosed with bladder cancer in October 2010 and after a 5 month battle against the disease he sadly passed away in February 2011 on his Grandson's 1st birthday.

Since setting up this fundraising event, we received news that our cousin Maria, had also lost her fight against cancer, leaving her husband and young family behind.

One in three of us will suffer some form of cancer but every one of our lives will be touched by the disease through a friend or relative.

Last year our fantastic Husband's cycled unaided, from John O Groats to Lands End, averaging 70 miles a day for fourteen days, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year its our turn and we have chosen Cancer Research UK to try and help more people survive cancer and maybe even one day, prevent It completely.
