Please support my efforts to support build home dialysis rooms for children in Guatemala, putting them on the path to kidney transplant! Bridge of Life (BOL) is partnering with FUNDANIER, BOLs pediatric dialysis partner, and Habitat for Humanity Guatemala (HFHG) to create a safe treatment solution for the administration of home-based peritoneal-dialysis (PD) for two children with chronic renal disease so that they can become eligible for a kidney transplant in the future. In Guatemala, families living in remote areas have difficulties accessing health care services due to a lack of transportation to facilities, resources, and language barriers. The Peritoneal Dialysis Room, built by volunteers, will account for these difficulties and will allow kids to receive dialysis in their home, rather than making the long, costly commute to Guatemala City to receive hemodialysis 3X per week. The rooms help patients meet the living requirements needed for government supported health care.
