Story
Since losing my Mum to cancer at a very young age. I have been raising money for St Barnabas House. Events have included the early days of 'Race for Life' in Stanmer Park to the up and coming 2023 'South downs Trek' and many others in-between. (I left the Snowdon Climb to my daughter Jodie Kovacs).
On a personal level, 2023 has already seen much 'heartbreak' including the sad loss of two special loved ones, Adam Palmer & Helen Poll, both taken too young, too soon. The sudden loss of Helen Duffield so soon after her husband Roger and many more who will be in my thoughts throughout the trek.
Our family are once again, travelling that difficult journey, with my brave sister 'Janet Medcalf', since she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Jan is receiving palliative care from St Barnabas and we as a family are so grateful for the support that is there for us too. I'm hoping that Jan can be waiting there at the end of the 26.2 mile trek, and who knows, she may even be able to cross the finishing line with us.
I know how lucky we are to have our 'local' hospice and for all they strive to do supporting loved ones and their families during the worst possible time. All of the staff at St B's are amazing, special people who genuinely care, I cannot 'praise' or 'thank' them enough.
PLEASE 'help' Jodie and myself to support them now, so that they can continue to be there for all future patients and their families.
Thank you, with love
Lyn & Jodie xx
