I recently published the book ‘Ship to Shore: Five years in the 1950s’, to celebrate the lives of my parents. The story is based on the letters they exchanged when he was in the Merchant Navy. My father, Captain John Witty, always supported the Sailors Children Society and became a trustee of the charity.
