Story
In 2008 when I first came across one of the SOS Children’s Village in Lefkosa, Cyprus, I was incredibly inspired and touched with how they supported children who have been separated from their families. When I turned up to the SOS Village to donate various items, there was a young girl, barely 2 years old, who was being held by a SOS Village carer; she had only recently been given up by her parents. My heart melted beyond my feet, and I knew that in years to come, I would do everything that I could to help this charity with the amazing work that they choose to do.
Over time after visiting the SOS Village, I quickly came to see how their dedicated people supported very young and vulnerable children, to grow up in a safe and caring family environment, giving them the best chance of a secure future.
Their vision of “a world where every child has a family, a community and a chance to grow up feeling cared for and loved”, touches my heart every time I read it, their work inspires me to want to do my best, in my small way.
So, here I am! Please help me to raise £6,000 for SOS Children’s Villages in Lesvos in Greece, and in Lefkosa/Nicosia in Northern Cyprus.
I will be carrying out a 20k walk and a 20k bike ride to try and raise these funds, which will be used to provide laptops to the younger children to use for learning during their schooling, and a much needed playground.
