I have been invited to take part in a charity race on Sunday 24th October 2021 at Wincanton Racecourse. It is a hands and heels flat race over the distance of 1m2f . I would love to reach my target of £1000 and raise more money for this fantastic charity. 

Some of you may already know that I already hold my amateur licence and ride in point to points. Having ridden a handful of winners I’m sure this will be a fun, competitive affair! I’m lucky enough to say, trainer Richard Phillips has kindly offered a horse for me to ride in the race. Fingers crossed it’s a winning one! 

A little bit about this fantastic charity… 

Racing Welfare is a registered charity supporting the workforce of British horseracing, including stud, stable and racecourse staff, alongside those working in associated roles across the industry. We offer professional guidance and practical help to all those whose dedication is vital for the well-being of racing. Our work aims to help people, from recruitment to retirement, to thrive in day-to-day life and through a range of life’s challenges.

In 2020, Racing Welfare saw a huge increase in those coming to the charity for support. By the end of the year, we supported over 4,500 individuals, marking an 80% increase on the numbers from 2019. The fallout of Covid-19 continues to impact many people across the horseracing industry and the charity’s services remain in high demand.

Racing Welfare relies almost exclusively on donations. This Wincanton Race Day is specifically aimed at increasing awareness of the wide breadth of services that the charity provides and at raising essential funds to help us to support the people who made your day at the races possible.
